Applus+ and OKTICS drive Digital Product Passport solutions for European industry
A collaboration combining industrial certification expertise with SaaS technology for product traceability and digital identity.
Applus+ Laboratories and OKTICS have launched a strategic collaboration to develop and promote Digital Product Passport solutions for industry, fully aligned with the new European regulatory framework.
The alliance is designed to help manufacturers and industrial companies prepare for one of the most significant regulatory and technological shifts Europe will face in the coming years: the progressive rollout of the Digital Product Passport under the European Ecodesign Regulation — one of the key pillars of Europe's sustainability, traceability, and circular economy strategy.
The Digital Product Passport will begin to take effect from 2027 with the first regulated sectors, rolling out progressively through 2030 as the relevant European delegated acts are published, defining the specific requirements applicable to each product family.
The DPP is not just a legal requirement: it is an opportunity to organise information, connect systems and unlock new digital capabilities for customer relationships and supply chain management.
The collaboration brings together two clearly differentiated profiles. On one side, Applus+ Laboratories' decades of expertise in certification, testing, compliance, and complex industrial environments, built through international work with manufacturers across many sectors. On the other, OKTICS's technological capabilities in traceability, product digital identity, connectivity, and SaaS platforms designed for advanced product information management.
Both companies are already working together on pilot projects with manufacturers across different sectors, validating deployment models and analysing specific needs in:
DPP management from a single SaaS platform
OKTICS's OKOCloud platform makes it possible to structure and manage technical information linked to each product, centralise traceability and sustainability documentation, and facilitate progressive DPP regulatory compliance.
OKOCloud · SaaSThe model aims to enable a progressive, manageable rollout for companies at different levels of digital maturity — ensuring the Digital Product Passport is not seen purely as an administrative obligation. Beyond the regulatory dimension, both organisations believe the DPP will ultimately become a new digital layer associated with the physical product, opening opportunities for advanced traceability, transparency, maintenance, after-sales service, analytics, and digital communication.
The initiative includes awareness and support activities through webinars, sector events, participation in conferences, and the creation of specialist content on the evolution of the Digital Product Passport in Europe.
Applus+ Laboratories has published its own official statement on this strategic alliance around the Digital Product Passport.
